Yah's promises to Abraham - 2

I am continuing our look at the seven promises to Abraham about his progeny. In the previous blog on this topic I listed out all seven promises as listed in the book "The Fall and Redemption of Adam's Race" written by Lawrence Blanchard. I have already shown that the seventh, the land promise, was fulfilled and that it is mute after that point (Joshua 21:43-45). As for the other six promises, we can see these fulfilled in the characteristics of the descended peoples known as Christian Israelites.

"1. Abraham would become a great and mighty nation.

And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing. – Genesis 12:2

... Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed. – Genesis 18:18

The debate about how this is to be fulfilled comes down to a philosophy that has become known as "mainstream" Christianity. I have found that whenever man wants to explain something they don't understand, they tend to try and insert their wisdom and leave God's wisdom out of the equation. We must remember that Yahweh said His "thoughts are not" our "thoughts" and His "ways" are not our "ways" (Is. 55:8). Man has always wanted to understand through their own explanations. We see this at the first recorded transgression of Adam (Gen. 3:5).

I would encourage you as a student (believer) of Christ to use proper Biblical hermeneutics (Bible study tools) when endeavoring to understand any theological premise within the Holy Scriptures. What I am saying is that if the language begins at a point within certain parameters, it must end at the same point and within those same parameters.

Now, let's look at these passages that God told Abraham that he would be a "great nation" and a "great and mighty nation".

To begin with we must understand what the definition of "nation" is as it was given through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the author of Genesis.

Word Study: nation: ??????--gôy--go'ee--apparently from the same root as H1465 (gevah) (in the sense of massing); a foreign nation; hence a Gentile; also (figurative) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts: - Gentile, heathen, nation, people*.--Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

"Gôy refers to a "people or nation," usually with overtones of territorial or governmental unity/identity. This emphasis is in the promise formulas where God promised to make someone a great, powerful, numerous "nation" (Gen. 12:2). Certainly these adjectives described the future characteristics of the individual's descendants as compared to other peoples (cf. Num. 14:12). So gôy represents a group of individuals who are considered as a unit with respect to origin, language, land, jurisprudence, and government."--Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words

Did you catch Mr. Vine's acknowledgement that "goy" which is also used for the common translation of "gentile" (*according to James Strong's definition) does not necessarily mean "heathen" or "pagan", but rather can be defined as "characteristics of the individual's descendants as compared to other peoples"?

After establishing this point about "goy" we can clearly see that the promise to Abraham was physical (biologically constructed) descendents. In other words, Yahweh God promised to Abraham that his "seed" (sperm) would produce a "great nation", "a great and mighty nation" in comparison to other peoples. Abraham's descendents will have a clear "origin, language, land, jurisprudence, and government" (Vine's definition listed above).

I ask you, the student (believer) of Christ, who is it today that has for the last 2,000 years shown themselves to be a "great and mighty nation" in this world? What people upon the face of the earth have brought civilization to the level that it is today? What people have shown through history, archeology and etymology where language (with the ability to read and write) has brought dominion to the planet? What people have worked to civilize barbaric lands and cultivate them into producers of agriculture, valuable metals, etc... and all the while working to respect the very land offering these things? What people have worked to establish jurisprudence and government to bring their own and others under civilized obedience?

There is truly no other nation (people race) that has done this at the level that the Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavian, Kindred peoples have. Our forefathers, over the last 2,000 years have adventured beyond the boundaries of their own habitation to bring Christendom to the globe.

Yes, Abraham your descendents have become a "great nation", "a great and mighty nation" and have worked toward bringing blessing to the planet that God created and established for His relationship with His covenantal people. Finally, the Bible in the New Testament declares that we, Christians, are to be a foreign people.(1 Peter 2:11)

We are not to be associated with the heathen in their paganistic practices of worshipping their gods, but rather to be obedient unto our God through enforcing His Laws while calling no man "King", but Yahweh God Almighty. We have instead replaced His Laws with the legislative body of men who are made up of multiple nations and not the nation of Yahweh God through Israel.

Micah 4:5-8 (KJV) 5 For all people* will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the YHWH our God for ever and ever. 6 In that day, saith the YHWH, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the YHWH shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. 8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

*Please note that "all people" in this passage is the generic Hebrew word "am" according to James Strong's H5971 denotes "congregated unit"(s) which would include all racial peoples into the statement. Furthermore, "her that halted" is none other than the House of Israel, genetic descendants of Abraham-Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob-Israel.

Thus, we are left with the proper understanding that the dispersed house of Israel will be reunited under the Lamb of God, Yeshua the Christ. This was accomplished in his coming as a babe born to a virgin and raised to his calling at the Cross of Calvary. He, Yeshua, is our Kinsman Redeemer and savior of Israel, the "great and mighty nation" promised to Abraham!
